He studied at the Academy of Bologna, attending the Umberto Mastroianni course and at the Brera Academy attending the Alik Cavaliere course. He is part of that generation of artists who at the end of the 70s reacted to Conceptual Art to return to painting.
Wal joins the New-New group theorized by the critic Renato Barilli and participates in all the group's exhibitions. He has held numerous collective and personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His is a philosophy of continuous amazement, of a fantastic, dreamlike and ironic world.
